This is just to let you all know that I’m more or less fine. My home is well above flood levels, though my basement has some good puddles and the garage is a mud flat.
However, my employer is, along with the rest of downtown, underwater. I’m sure some of you have seen images from Montpelier and the other towns in central Vermont. Most of the towns are built in the low places, mostly near rivers that run between high, rocky mountains. So… most of the towns are now Venice. Without the charm.
Cheers!
Eliza
Oh no! I am glad you are safe and ok and I hope your garage and basement dry out without any problems. How scary! And here in Minneapolis we continue in moderate drought with some parts of the state recently entering severe drought. Take care!

This rain pretty much erased the drought on paper. Over 8 inches in 24 hours. The ground is now saturated. One wonders how much good it will do though… I assume most roots are sealed off until there are air spaces in the soil again so the plants don’t drown. The average of ‘none’ and ‘flood’ is not a happy place physically even if we have the ‘proper’ amount of rainfall on the books. 😦
Still, my son and I came off more or less unscathed. A block from here there is a lake. And the road to Montpelier looks like it was bombed. Could have been much worse for me than it was!
