Things to look forward to…

someone to vote for

Okay, this one was not in the book. Actually, this week was skinny dipping, which on further analysis is probably not something I can get behind. Not that I don’t like the idea, it’s just that how do you even do stuff like that anymore? At the moment, I’m having trouble identifying a body of water I would even swim in, never mind the complications of nudity…

On the other hand…

On Sunday, Joe Biden, apparently laid up with a rough case of COVID, decided to admit that this was not his time — and then he gave us all a gift.

This is really and truly something to look forward to. I haven’t voted for someone since Obama, and even that election was tempered by not knowing much of what he might do but being decidedly against everything that had preceded him.

(At this point, Trump doesn’t even rank as something to vote against. He’s just an abomination that makes me embarrassed to be human.)

But I am for Kamala Harris. Here is someone to support, someone I genuinely want to see as President! Now, that’s something to look forward to!

As a side note, as I was adding “tags” for this brief post, I was reminded that it was the election of Joe Biden (in the midst of COVID, having just lost several loved ones, my home, and a 30-year marriage) that prompted me to start this writing project. So… Thanks, Uncle Joe!

  1. I’ve voted Green since the 1990s and have always felt like I would not, could not, vote for either of the 2-party duopoly – their policies are just way too similar.   But, I’m at least thinking about KH if it turns out my state is a battleground and the race is very close.   There are three reasons.   First and foremost, KH is a woman.   I’m hopeful that the disgusting misogynist nature of Trump and the Republicans will be obvious in how they attack her.   Second, she is a person of color – I’ve really had it with white-men presidents, ¡Ya basta!   Third, her parents are immigrants that refute the hateful lies that Trump tells about them.    Her father, Jamaican-born, was a pioneer in breast cancer research and her mother a Stanford University professor.    For now however, I’m sticking with the only person, IMO, qualified to be president – Cornell West.

P.S. After Howie and the last presidential election, I’m kind of done with the Greens – sorry Jill.

    1. I am still a Green Party member. But for some reason here in New England, that isn’t a very strong thing. I don’t think I’ve seen one local GP candidate for anything.

And yeah, Jill is brilliant at what she does… but I can’t see her doing well in politics. Obviously, she hasn’t so far. I keep hoping someone will roust Winona off the farm for another go, this time as the Presidential candidate, but… she’s busy… like all the rest of us trying frantically to build something before it all falls apart.

      1. Winona is right where she should be on the land. That is the real world where transformational change is happening. Excuse the cliche, but politics is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Sorry KH, but if voting could change anything it would be illegal.
