Here is some gentle advice…
Stop wearing yourself out in trying to apply reasonableness to anything Trump does, up to and including prosecuting war on another sovereign nation. Reason has nothing to do with it.
This is a drooling, ignorant human who has lived a cushioned and narcissistic life without consequences or responsibility. He has curdled his body with drugs, alcohol, unhealthy food, chronically bad sleep decisions, and a lifetime of pathological lying that has utterly distorted and destroyed his capacity to comprehend factual experience. Add to that, manifest disease and advanced senility — trending into dementia, if not clinically there — and you have a brain that is incapable of formulating reason, or even understanding that reasonableness exists. There is no exterior reality, no guiding past, and no conceivable future for Donald J Trump. His world is entirely whatever irrational whims of the moment are flitting about within his debilitated brain.
Leaving aside his crimes, if this was your grandfather, you would have committed him to assisted living by now. He would not be trusted to cook or able to find his way home on his own. His driver’s license would have long ago been revoked. He hasn’t the capability to drive a car, never mind a country. He is old and near death and has lost all contextual sense.
But this is not an innocent, doddering gammon causing harm mostly to himself. He has lived a lifetime of causing harm to every unfortunate being who comes into contact with him. His habitual choices have always been to cause harm in equal measure to his project of self-aggrandizement. He has never been constrained by morality or, indeed, reason. He has never concerned himself with ethics or order. He has never given thought to ruling precepts guiding actions. In short, he has never been reasonable. And for any number of reasons, if our country were rational and rule-based and reasonable, he would be spending his twilight days in prison.
Moreover, he has surrounded himself with sycophantic idiots and grifters and some truly evil beings. They are admitted into his circle solely for their capacity to show abject fealty. Intelligence and competence are unacceptable character flaws. Their one job is to amplify his conceits and manifest his caprices and systematically, ruthlessly, remove any checks on his destructive capacity. He hears nary a whisper of opposition or prudent counsel, to the point that he may no longer even know that there are opinions and ideas other than his own distorted views.
There is no rationality in any of this. So be kind to yourself and stop trying to force senility, elite idiocy, and criminal insanity into some form of coherence…
The only way to fix this gall is to remove the mindless canker…
