The Daily: Break Time

I’m on vacation from my wage job this week. Initially, I thought that meant I would have more time to write. However, there are just too many things that need to be done.

Some are good — more garden time! Some are not so good — the latest and greatest round of basement mold needs suppressing. Apart from having to breathe in Lysol for many more hours, I’m going to be getting rid of books. Which makes me sad… though not despondent.

But, in any case, I’m not feeling all that creative. So I am taking this week off from posting.

I’m sure there will be stories generated. Probably some spectacular examples of what not to do when you live in an increasingly humid climate.

Be well!

Eliza

  1. I don’t envy you having to get rid of books. Having taken several boxes to the charity shop this week, I am feeling bereft – even though these are mostly books that have been through my children and grandchildren! We still have hundreds of books left – and of course I bought a book at the charity shop while I was about it!

    1. The worst part about it, these are the reference books. I was intentionally building a craft & science library so that information would survive when computers become less reliable. Most public libraries hardly carry non-fiction at all. It’s not even easy to buy some of these books. Made all the more clear in that nobody takes them for resale except the Salvation Army. And I’m not sure that those actually get resold. I suspect most go directly from the donation bin to the recycling bin. But at least that way there is a better chance of getting them recycled than with my waste collection provider who dumps both bins — trash and recycling — into the same truck every other Tuesday. And those bins can’t hold the volume of books that I need to remove. It would take weeks to go that route… so I am sad… but as I said, not despondent. So that plan didn’t work out. I’ll try something else.
